My dear Mr. Connelley:

Yours of the 13th inst. at hand. Our reunion will be held at Independence on the 20th and 21st days of this month. We are governed by Friday and Saturday nearest the 20th of August. We adopted this method on account of the weather conditions.
I do hope that you will bring both Leland and Randlett, and I now very cordially invite them to be present, and will insure to them and to you a cordial welcome. Jackson County is experiencing as hot weather as I felt in my seventy-one years here.
     Regards to self and family.

As ever, your friend,
Wm. H. Gregg
